In 1951, Ohio disc jockey Alan Freed first coined the phrase ‘rock & roll’ to describe an emerging style of music which mixed gospel, rhythm and blues and country music in a hard driving, dynamic blend. Over the next decade ‘rock & roll’ was adopted by suburban teenagers across the globe and went on to influence significant cultural and social change. Our Rocket Jukebox transports you back in time to the frenzied mid 50’s and the sound that transformed everything.
